I shoot Super 8. That is the whole business.
Super 8 is real film. A small cartridge runs through a hand-wound camera, goes off to a lab, and comes back scanned. What you see is what the film did.
A cartridge holds about three minutes, so I’m choosing moments rather than rolling on everything. That’s the trade, and it’s most of why these films feel the way they do.
It’s the only format I shoot. Charleston and the Lowcountry mostly, and wherever else the day happens to be.

Charleston has more good rooms than one person could shoot in a decade. These are the ones I keep coming back to. Where there’s a film up, click through and watch it — the rest get added as the reels come back from the lab.
Lowndes Grove
The last riverfront estate downtown. The lawn runs west to the Ashley, and the forty minutes before sunset on that dock are the best light in the city.

1807, off King Street. Courtyard, carriage lanes, and walls that hold the light late and then drop it all at once.

The Lenhardt Garden behind the museum — walled, formal, an oak allée and a fountain. One of the few downtown gardens that looks built for 8mm.

The Avenue of Oaks and the Cotton Dock over the marsh. Most photographed quarter-mile in the Lowcountry, and the easiest one to get wrong on film.

Out on the harbour with the Ravenel behind you. Boats move and film doesn’t stabilise — that weave is the whole reason to shoot it this way.

Eight hours on one format. I shoot cartridges through the day — morning, ceremony, and the parts of the reception nobody plans.
A 4–6 minute film
Cut by hand and colour-graded from the scans. Scored, silent picture, the length a film like this should be.
Every foot I shot
All raw footage — developed, scanned and delivered. Not just the edit. You get the whole roll, including the frames I didn’t use.
Stock, lab and scanning included
Film, development and digitisation are in the price. There is no per-roll surprise at the end.
Add a camcorder. Keep the in-between.
A camcorder that lives with you for the wedding day, the whole weekend, or all the way through the honeymoon. Hand it to your friends. Film the rehearsal dinner, the getting-ready chaos, the last dance, the first morning as a married couple. I cut the best of it into your final film.

Elopements and destination weddings are a real part of the year. I have shot Super 8 weddings everywhere from Spain to Cape Cod, Washington, Santa Monica, and everywhere in between. Anywhere outdoorsy, cinematic and full of adventure — a Super 8 camera is the easiest thing in the world to get on a plane.

I am one person with one camera. No crew standing in your photos, no second shooter with a gimbal, no one asking you to do the exit again. You get somebody who is treated like a guest and happens to be carrying something that runs on film.
How much do you get on one cartridge?
A single cartridge runs about three minutes. That is why Super 8 is selective, and why choosing well matters more than shooting a lot.
Can I have Super 8 and a digital film?
Super 8 is the whole coverage. A digital ceremony add-on is possible for couples who want a full ceremony record alongside the film — ask me on the call and I will tell you straight whether you need it.
Do you travel for Super 8 weddings?
Yes. I have covered weddings everywhere from my home of Charleston to Europe and all over the US. Charleston and the surrounding Lowcountry are home ground; anywhere further is quoted before you sign.
