I'm Matthew. I make wedding films in Charleston and wherever else the story goes: a lawn under live oaks, a boat on the harbor, a trailhead at blue hour. I shoot on real Super 8 film and on digital, sometimes both on the same day, and I edit for how the day actually felt, in the order it happened, with your real voices in it.
No trends, no templates, nothing added in an app. Just your people, your place, and the light you had.

Actual film cartridges, exposed on your wedding day, developed at a lab and scanned. The grain, the color and the flicker are real. Every roll is three minutes long, so every frame is a choice.

Most of my weddings are in Charleston and the Lowcountry. Some of my favorite films were shot on a trail in the Cascades, on a dune with a pickup truck, on a dock at dusk. If your day is somewhere that takes a little effort to get to, that is usually a good sign.
Why it feels different.
Story first
I edit for how the day felt, in the order it happened, with your real audio. Vows, toasts, the laugh during the ceremony. Not a music video with your wedding in it.
Present, not posed
I stay out of the way. Almost everything in your film happened whether I was there or not, which is why it still feels like you ten years later.
Real film when you want it
Super 8 is exposed in the camera on actual film, not a filter. Digital is 4K and covers the whole day. Have either, or both.
Made for rewatching
A film you'll put on for the couch, the car, your kids. The people who book me tend to watch theirs more than once a year.

Hi, I'm Matthew.
I'm a filmmaker and photographer based in Charleston, and a lifelong South Carolinian. When I'm not filming a wedding I'm usually outside: camping, taking the boat out, photographing whatever the light is doing. That's shaped the way I see and the way I film.
I take on a small number of weddings each year, on purpose. It keeps me present on your day and personal in the edit.
