Hi, I’m Matthew
I’m a filmmaker and photographer based in Charleston, South Carolina—and a lifelong South Carolinian. When I’m not filming a wedding, I’m usually outside: camping, photographing nature, taking the boat out with my girlfriend, or cooking something that probably takes longer than it needs to. I’ve always felt most at home outdoors, and that connection to nature shapes the way I see and film the world.

Charleston is home, but I try to spend as much time as possible outside of the house. My girlfriend and I love taking the boat out, exploring the Lowcountry, camping, and finding reasons to stay outside until the light disappears. When I’m home, I’m usually cooking—often turning a simple dinner into an unnecessarily long project. Those slower, ordinary parts of life are usually the ones I value most.

Alongside weddings, I create outdoor, nature, and lifestyle photography and films for brands. That work has taken me onto the water, into the woods, and through the landscapes I’m naturally drawn to—even when I don’t have a camera in my hand. These two films are a small glimpse into that side of what I create.

Spending so much time filming outside has taught me to pay attention—to changing light, movement, weather, atmosphere, and the unscripted moments that disappear quickly. I bring that same instinct to weddings. I’m not interested in forcing every moment into a pose. I want to notice what is already happening and create a film that feels honest to the people in it.
