Real 8mm film at Harbour Town. Here is Liam and Maddie’s wedding on Hilton Head Island, shot on Super 8.

Harbour Town is the most recognisable corner of Hilton Head: the red and white striped lighthouse, the yacht basin, the old oak by the water. Liam and Maddie got married there, and it is the film that convinced me Super 8 belongs on the coast.
Coastal light is soft and warm, and film renders it warmer still. The stripes on the lighthouse, the white boats, the green water: Super 8 was built for this palette. Late afternoon at the marina is the best light on the island, so I plan the couple’s walk for that window and let the rest of the day happen around it.
Hilton Head is about two hours from Charleston. I do not charge travel for it, or for anywhere else in the US. A cartridge runs about three minutes, so I shoot the moments that suit it across the whole day: getting ready, the walk, the first dance, the send-off.
Your film goes to a lab, gets developed, and gets scanned. What comes back is a physical thing that was exposed on your wedding day. Nothing about the look is added later in an app.
