Filming Super 8 at the William Aiken House

The Aiken House was built in 1807 and sits right on King Street, and a wedding there moves through a lot of different rooms in one day. Ballrooms, the drawing room, the covered piazzas, the courtyards under the old magnolia. That suits Super 8. A cartridge runs about three minutes, so the whole approach is choosing moments instead of rolling on everything, and a house with this many rooms gives me plenty to choose from.

The thing worth knowing if you are booking here: the interiors are beautiful and they are dim. I shoot 500T inside and 50D outdoors, and I plan the day around where the light actually is when your ceremony starts. If you are doing a first look or portraits, the outdoor spaces in the afternoon are the easiest light on the property.

Your film goes to a lab, gets developed, and gets scanned. What comes back is a physical thing that was exposed on your wedding day. Nothing about the look is added later in an app.

You definitely delivered all the emotion I wanted to feel again through a Super 8 film.Jocelyn — married at the William Aiken House, April 2026
